The subarc process uses a powdered flux that the welding wire is submerged into. The welding process takes place inside the flux bed to protect the arc. Much like Carbon Steel MIG wire Low Alloy MIG wire is used to join most types of mild steel. The exception being a lower amount of Hydrogen in the content of the alloy.
